The long awaited new Studio CD from Zen For Primates can now be ordered from this page. Zen's 1st studio recording in 4 years features 14 new recordings and 1 classic track recorded by Zen in 1989 at a series of Zen For Primates sessions produced by Ron Ardito at CBGB's for the fledgling CBGB's label. Many of the songs from the bands repertoire at that time appear on it's first Bummer Tent release, Albatross.
The 15 tracks on "Stella" include 12 brand new original tunes and 3 of Zen For Primates now infamous and always surprising cover interpretations. This time out there is a very beautiful and darkly sad version of the Charlie Chaplin (!) tune "Smile". Then a rousing and much wilder take on the Frank Sinatra classic "That's Life" The new Originals reflect on drinking, smoking, living, dying, perfection, sheep-herding, indecision, insanity and Italian food. You know.....the normal Zen For Primates fare. Have a few sound bites on us.......
The new tracks also feature some guest stars joining Zen in the studio. Bob Dorough , the legendary Composer/Vocalist of "School House Rock" on ABC-TV. Bob has also worked with everone from Lenny Bruce to Miles Davis to Allen Ginsberg to Spanky and Our Gang ! Bruce Kapler, The sax player for the Dave Letterman Late Show CBS band and Tours with Steely Dan and Bon Jovi. Bill Goodwin , one of the most admired jazz drummer/producers around. With Grammy winner Phil Woods for many years and also with Tom Waits and too many others to mention. Rick Chamberlain is principal trombone of the New York City Ballet at Lincoln Center and adds a distinctive new wrinkle to the Zen sound on this new CD. Join us for listen........
